Last week I was lucky enough to photograph the 15th meetup for Design Swansea - a "free monthly social event in Swansea for designers, students and creative industry professionals. Each month features 2 or more talks on design-related topics including graphic design, web design, animation, illustration, user experience, typography, branding and more. There are also perks like free pizza and beer!"
Taking place at the TechHub Swansea, this was their first event following an extended summer break.
First up this month were Chris Thomas & Lucy Griffiths of We Are Lucky with their talk of “Designers Designing Businesses”. Following them was Alex Jenkins of Designed For Life and the #ReachOut mental health campaign, with a great (and very honest) discussion on how “Creating a Mental Health Campaign, Whilst Suffering with Mental Health Has Been Pretty Good for My Mental Health”. Last up was Amie Lockwood (and her Taylor Swift gifs!) of Lion Girl Publishing, an author who recently published a children's book titled “Alex the Brave” after a successful Kickstarter campaign.
This was the first event I'd ever officially photographed, so seeing my name and logo up as one of the sponsors was pretty cool!! It was a great opportunity, a brilliant turnout, and a cracking night featuring four great speakers - I'm already looking forward to the next one!
