Hi there! I'm Chris, and I'm the photographer behind The Silence of the Lens...
Starting from July 2017, my wedding photography services can now be found at www.chrisandrewsphotography.co.uk. This is my new website setup purely for wedding photography (family and event photography will stay under The Silence of the Lens) so please go check it out the new site and don't forget to get in touch if you're looking for a wedding photographer!
I’m a photographer based in Port Talbot, South Wales, but I’m also a few other things too – a people-watcher, a web programmer, a gin connoisseur, and a Pixies obsessive (the 80's/90's alt rock band, not the fairytale kind). I'm rarely found without my camera - I absolutely love being behind the lens... but generally hate being in front of it.
I specialise in unposed, unstaged, documentary-style photography. I use Fujifilm X series cameras for my work and am also a bit of a nut for Polaroid pictures and Fujifilm Instax prints.
Outside of photography, I love amazing South Wales sunsets, Netflix binges, Spotify playlists, and my record player and record collection. You can usually find me listening to the Pixies, The Smiths, Led Zeppelin, or a movie soundtrack on vinyl... or binge-watching It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Freaks & Geeks, or Twin Peaks... or re-watching American Beauty, True Romance, or Rear Window for the 1,354th time. Oh and I can also quote pretty much every Friends episode ever. "I’m not great at the advice. Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?"
So, why 'The Silence of the Lens'?
The inspiration for the name The Silence of the Lens comes from a combination of:
- my discreet style and approach (ninja style aka documentary/reportage photography)
- my silent and unobtrusive cameras (Fujifilm X series mirrorless cameras)
- and one of my favourite books and films of all time (The Silence of the Lambs)
Interesting note: I live very close to where Anthony Hopkins, who famously played Hannibal Lecter in the films, is from: Margam, Port Talbot, South Wales.
